Cars and Caves at Chanhassen AutoPlex is a monthly summer event where people can stop by and look at car collectors vehicles and their impressive garages. More than 400 vehicles are typically on display during these events.

Car collectors are opening their garages at the Chanhassen AutoPlex for Cars and Caves on the last Saturday of every month this summer and on select weeknights. The show features exotic, classic, custom and collector cars in decked-out garages — the AutoPlex is known for its amazing man caves.

Sneak Peek: Lutunji’s Palate Bakery and Café in Minneapolis

A local baker is opening her first storefront thanks in part to community funding. Lutunji’s Palate Bakery and Café is on the main floor of the Gatsby Apartments in the Elliot Park Neighborhood of Downtown Minneapolis. Lutunji Abram has been baking cobbler since she was a child, but she’s flipped the script on traditional cobbler by making them vegan. Her cobbler is now in six Lunds & Byerlys across the Twin Cities and she’ll still sell her products at the local farmers markets where she got her start. Her new shop will also have vegan ice cream and a coffee bar. Doors opens May 14th at 10am.

New spot to caffeinate in the Maplewood

Scooter’s Coffee has set its sights on the metro. The coffee chain has opened its first drive-thru in Maplewood at Stillwater Road and Century Blvd. There are several more shops planned in the West metro as well. Scooter’s is based in Omaha and quickly expanding across the Midwest. Their most popular drink is the Caramelicious, a caramel latte with a hefty dose of whipped cream and caramel drizzle. They also offer Red Bull infusions and breakfast pastries and sandwiches.

Richfield bakery celebrates anniversary and adds kids baking classes

Starting a business is no easy task, especially during a pandemic, but Ebony Turner didn’t let that stop her from fulfilling a lifelong dream and opening Dessertopia. A year ago she moved into The Hub in Richfield, a shopping center she frequented as a kid. She specializes in custom cakes, but also sells cheesecake bars, cupcakes, ice cream and cannoli. To celebrate her year in business she’s added kids baking classes called Cake-preneur 101. For more information you can find her shop on social media at Dessertopia2021.

The buzziest donut sweeping the country is now in the Twin Cities

Japan’s favorite donut has arrived in Minnesota and a St. Paul shop is baking them up fresh all day long, seven days a week. Soga Mochi Donut is inside Dragon Star Oriental Foods. The mochi donut is made up of eight doughy circles that are both crispy and chewy. There are at least two more mochi donut shops opening in the next year, one in Dinkytown and the other in Eden Prairie.

Spring fashion week arrives

Minnesota’s talented designers are in the spotlight this week. It’s Spring Fashion Week and there are shows every night through Saturday. One of the events celebrates Asian American Pacific Islander creatives. Coalesce Collective hits the runway at Allianz Field on April 30th. The event is sold out but can still be livestreamed.

Co-working space combines work and fitness; ninja-warrior style

A new co-working space has moved in beneath the Uptown CVS. The Wilderness is full of light and greenery and a ninja warrior course. The experience is all about creating a healthier and happier work environment. The co-owners both competed on the show American Ninja Warrior and offer classes to members. The Wilderness also boasts a yoga studio, a theater room, game room and speakeasy for private events.

New Shipwreck Adventure exhibit opens in the Minnesota Children’s Museum

The Minnesota Children’s Museum has a new exhibit that gives kids a chance to go underwater and explore a shipwreck. The permanent exhibit takes up much of the first floor. It’s modeled after a the real shipwreck of the J.S. Seaverns in Lake Superior. The museum worked with the diver who discovered the shipwreck for guidance on the ship’s design. The Minnesota Children’s Museum is open Wednesday through Sunday.

Empty big box store to become specialty mall

The former Gander Mountain space in Eden Prairie is undergoing a major transformation. It’ll be the metros’ first Asian mall. It’ll house several restaurants, a large Asian grocery store and office space. The Asia Mall is projected to open in June of 2022.

New bar celebrates all things 90’s

The 90’s are making a comeback in the fashion world and those bike shorts and flannel shirts will be the perfect attire for a new dive bar in Stillwater. The Wild Hare is plastered with 90’s album covers, street art and even a payphone. The nostalgic bar isn’t dishing up 90’s cuisine. Instead, they’re serving up organic food with plenty of gluten free, vegan and vegetarian options. The bar is open Sunday to Thursday from 11am to 9pm and on Friday and Saturday from 11am to 10pm. The Wild Hare is located at 218 Main Street North.

Lindstrom Bakery reopens with new owners

One year ago, Food & Wine Magazine named Lindstrom Bakery’s Scandinavian Donut the best in Minnesota. A few months later, the longtime owner put the iconic shop on the market. And now, for the first time in nearly 50 years, the bakery has new owners. The Richey family worked with the former owner for 36 days to get the recipes and methods just right. Eric and Angie say it was always their dream to own a bakery or café in a small town and they couldn’t pass up this opportunity. They do have plans to expand the bakery into a farm to table café but they will continue making the long-time favorites. The bakery is open Tuesday through Friday 6am to 4pm and on Saturday from 7am to 3pm.

Gaming venue opens in east metro

Oakdale has a new entertainment center. It’s called The Burrow and if that name sounds familiar, it should because it’s the second location in the metro. The Burrow took over the former Big Thrill Factory space right off 694. It’s quite a bit larger than the Victoria location and offers axe throwing, outdoor mini golf, arcade games, go-karts and a more adult-focused lounge with table tennis, mini bowling and game simulators with options like golf, basketball and zombie dodge ball.

Table Tennis turnout on the rise in the metro

One of the most popular sports around the world is seeing renewed interest right here in the Twin Cities. Table Tennis is a sport that’s easy to get into and thanks to clubs like Fluid Table Tennis, there are many locations across the metro to try it out. We ventured to the Table Tennis Minnesota Training Center to find out who’s playing the sport and what the local scene is like.

It made international headlines when the head distiller of Jameson Whiskey announced he was leaving Ireland to join a brand new distillery in Minneapolis. Now, Brian Nation is preparing for his first St. Patrick’s Day in America. He has plans to walk in both the Minneapolis and St. Paul parade, then he’ll visit bars that have embraced O’Shaughnessy’s brand, Keeper’s Heart Irish + American Whiskey, and finally he’ll end the day at the distillery that brought him here.

Syrup season arrives

Cool nights and warmer days means it’s time to tap the maple trees. The sap is finally flowing at Eastman Nature Center in Dayton. The park is part of the Three Rivers Park District. They offer maple syruping events that will take place through March 26th.
