EASTENDERS' Martin Fowler will be making less of an appearance in the coming weeks as actor James Bye takes to the dance floor.

James Bye, 38, has played the role of Martin Fowler on EastEnders for eight years now, but will be swapping the Walford Market for the stage as he joins the Strictly Come Dancing cast.

Fans will be pleased to know that James is not leaving EastEnders for Strictly, but will have to split his time between the two roles, appearing in EastEnders less so he can practice his moves.

He told Inside Soap: "It's a massive commitment, luckily both shows are filmed in Elstree, and my bosses at EastEnders have been very supportive in terms of quieting my storylines to make sure I'm given the chance to do as best I can on Strictly."

James is married with three children, and reportedly met his wife, Victoria, in a Sainsbury's carpark and shortly after tied the knot in 2012.
